The police at Ajao Estate, Airport Road, Isolo, Lagos have arrested a housewife, Mrs Edith Ikeyinna for pouring hot water on her niece, Chinaza Nwankwo, aged 11 years.
The incident occurred at their residence, 11 Ramson Street, off Osolo Way, Ajao Estate, Lagos.
Mrs Ikeyinna, The Nation gathered, has moved to the Gender Desk of the Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja yesterday from Ajao Estate Police Station where she is presently cooling her feet.
According to the President, International Charity Initiative and Woman Development Foundation (ICI-WODEF), Mrs Helen Ibeji, Chinaza was found in excruciating pain at Glorious Supermarket along Osolo Way, Ajao Estate arising from severe burns on her abdomen which she said was as a result of hot water poured on her by her aunt.
The victim’s aunt after applying egg on the wound in the first instance, was said to have given her N50 to buy Gentien Violet at the supermarket to treat herself and cover up the wound.
It was gathered that members of the ICI-WODEF initially made fruitless efforts to locate the residence of the violator.
When the aunt of the. victim showed up, she claimed to have been searching for her all along.
Mrs Ifeyinna was said to have arrived the supermarket and dragged the girl away after raining curses on all those who challenged her actions.
The perpetrator’s husband, Alex who was not around when the incident happened was said to have sent a message that ‘she should be reported to the Human Rights office and that he had warned her severally to change from her evil ways to no avail.’
