ABUJA (Sundiata Post) – It was learnt from top sources at the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) that the escaped Binance executive fled Nigeria “on his smuggled Kenyan passport.”
The Nigerian government has insisted that it is collaborating with the International Criminal Police Organisation – INTERPOL, commonly known as Interpol and the international community to arrest the escaped executive of a global crypto-currency firm, Binance, Nadeem Anjarwalla.
This was confirmed in a press statement issued from the country’s national security adviser on Monday while confirming that Nadeem escaped from their custody on Friday when he was allowed to visit a nearby Jummah Mosque.
It was learnt from top sources at the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) that the escaped Binance executive fled Nigeria “on his smuggled Kenyan passport.”
Anjarwalla’s escape from custody last Friday steered controversy across the country since the news broke Monday morning.
The embattled Binance executive who is both a citizen of the United Kingdom and Kenya, had had his British passport seized by the Nigerian authorities.
Reported that Mr Anjarwalla, 38, escaped when security guards took him to a nearby mosque for prayers on Friday in Abuja.
Binance had also claimed it is aware its executive, Nadeem Anjarwalla, is no longer in Nigerian custody.
The spokesperson for Binance, Samantha Fuller, revealed this in a statement issued to newsmen via email on Monday, saying that the company would continue to protect the safety of its staff regardless of the situation.
“We were made aware that Nadeem is no longer in Nigerian custody. Our primary focus remains on the safety of our employees, and we are working collaboratively with Nigerian authorities to quickly resolve this issue,” Fuller said in her email.
The office of the Nigerian National Security Adviser further stated that after being briefed on what had occurred, it initiated immediate efforts to apprehend the suspect.
The Nigerian authorities added that the security guard who escorted Nadeem to the mosque has also been arrested.
