Abuja (Sundiata Post) – It was a case of sweet victory for the three state governors whose challenged victories were ruled upon by election tribunals this Saturday, September 30, 2023.
In Sokoto, the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal dismissed the petition filed against the victory of Governor Ahmed Aliyu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the March 18 election, Sa’idu Umar.
The three-member panel led by Justice Huruna Mshelia said the petitioner could not prove his allegations of election rigging beyond reasonable doubts.
Still in the North – this time in Taraba – the Governorship Election Tribunal affirmed that Agbu Kefas of the PDP is the validly elected governor of the state.
The three-man panel of justices of the tribunal said the petition challenging the election of Kefas lacks merit and consequently dismissed it.
Down South in Ogun State, the Election Petition Tribunal upheld the re-election of APC’s Dapo Abiodun, dismissing the petition of PDP candidate, Ladi Adebutu, who challenged Abiodun’s election.
