Amidst the intricate web of socio-political and economic problems bedeviling the nation at 64 years of nationhood, the issue of how to rescue Nigeria from the brinks of collapse takes the centrestage at this month’s edition of Boiling Point Arena, an interview discourse on governance and nation building.

A special Independence edition, the 23rd in the series, the once-in-a-month current affairs programme holds this coming Sunday, September 8, 2024 at 8pm for a two-hour duration via Zoom and to be transmitted live on a radio station, Sweet 107.1FM.

On the podium as discussants on Boiling Point Arena this time around are two of Nigeria’s notable experts in diverse sectors of the economy, Prof. Wunmi Iledare and Engr. Oluwatoyin Jokosenumi.

The topic of discourse is: *Nigeria in Socio-Political and Economic Quagmire: What are the Rescue Options?”*

Boiling Point Arena, with an incredibly large online followership, is the brainchild of the Convener, Dr Ayo Arowojolu, a media professional with 34 years multi-varied work career spanning the media, banking and education sectors.

Prof Wunmi Iledare, a one-time President of the United States Association for Energy Economics, is the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation Professorial Chair in Oil and Gas. A Professor Emeritus in Petroleum Economics and Policy Research at the Center for Energy Studies, Louisiana State University, USA, he has had over four decades practice and experience in the Oil and Gas at the global level.

For his part, Engr. Oluwatoyin Jokosenumi is a retired former Director at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and a project implementation specialist reputed to have led the team that delivered the bank’s headquarter complex in Abuja between 1999 and 2003.

The duo of Prof Iledare and Engr Jokosenumi are to offer perspectives, detailing the gradual decline of governance and retrogression over the years by successive regimes and will in particular point the way forward to reinvent a new nation capable of infusing renewed hope to a seeming helpless and hopeless citizenry.

A foremost traditional ruler, the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Prof. Saka Matemilola, is expected to deliver a keynote speech to herald the discourse, in his capacity as Chairman, Boiling Point Council of Royals and Elders.

According to a statement by the Chairman, Organizing Committee for the programme, Dr Eddy Ademosu, one of Nigeria’s notable Public Relations Icon, the interview discourse will also suggest rescue options for the country ahead of the forthcoming Independence Day Celebration commemorating Nigeria at 64.

Dr Ademosu commended the Management of Sweet FM, chaired by its Promoter, Senator Olugbenga Obadara, for identifying with worthy causes through partnering with the Boiling Point platform to widen the audience reach of the programme through its terrestrial and online channels
