Jos, – The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons and Other Related Matters (NAPTIP), has organised a walk in Jos, to increase awareness on the ills of human trafficking.
Mr Juventus Yitnoe, The Head of Operations of NAPTIP in Jos, said during the event that trafficking had continued to thrive due to inadequate awareness.
Yitnoe further said that the agency would take the message to schools to sensitise students on the ills of both voluntary and involuntary trafficking.
According to him also, the agency plans to take the campaign to places of worship, to create more awareness about the dangers associated with trafficking in persons.
He also disclosed that so far, in the campaign against human trafficking, the agency had made 36 arrests, and 11 cases were in court.
“We have been very proactive, and we are working hard to make sure we train our officers at various levels to fight this menace,” he said.
Yitnoe said that no one should be left behind in the fight, and urged the public to monitor and report movements of suspicious persons. (NAN)
