Lagos- Mr Adeyemi Ikuforiji, Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly (LAHA), says he will continue to work for the progress of the state even though he lost in the governorship primaries.
Ikuforiji spoke in Ikeja on Wednesday at the annual thanksgiving service organised by the house of assembly fellowship.
He said that he was neither tired nor thinking of retirement and would not relinquish his drive for a greater Lagos.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the annual thanksgiving service had the theme “Greater Height”.
Ikuforiji urged all Lagos residents to appreciate God for His mercies and protection over the years.
“I recall how I was discharged and acquitted by a Federal High Court in Lagos over allegations of corruption by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
“It has been a challenging period for me, my family and my friends. I have every reason to praise God.
“So, I am not tired of working for the progress of Lagos State,” he said.
The speaker commended both the lawmakers and the members of staff for taking the assembly to a greater height, adding that he was leaving behind well trained staff members and lawmakers.
“We now have the State Assembly Service Commission, state of the art facilities and proper method of accounting,” he said.
Ikuforiji said that the house would continue to go higher, assuring that the new blocks of building under construction would be inaugurated before the end of the 7th Assembly in May 2015.
“We will continue to set the pace for other state houses of assembly,” he said.
NAN reports that a gospel artiste, Evangelist Tope, Alabi thrilled the audience at the occasion.(NAN)
