LAGOS – Rep. Oghene Egoh, a PDP member representing Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency of Lagos State in the House of Representatives, on Saturday pledged to work toward renewal of infrastructure in the area.
He told newsmen in Lagos at a Thank-You Party in his constituency that decay of infrastructure was one of the biggest problems facing the area.
“Our party is not in power but we intend to work with the Lagos State Government just like we are doing at the House.
“I should be able to work with the APC government here in the state as well for the interest of those who gave me their mandate.
“As a lawmaker, it is my duty to help make laws and have oversight function over government institutions for the betterment of Nigeria and Amuwo Odofin in particular.
“I shall not shy away from my responsibility to the people of this constituency whom I represent.
“As a lawmaker, I do not possess the requisite executive power to directly award contracts, but I shall not relent in my effort to push the Federal, State and the Local governments to develop my federal constituency.

“I will not only push to address the present challenges menacing the people of Amuwo Odofin, but also be on the lookout for arising needs that require the attention of the government,” Egoh said.
The lawmaker urged the Independent National Electoral Commission to ensure it prints voter cards for all eligible voters for the upcoming council polls, saying that is their only weapon for choosing their preferred leaders.
“We want card readers for the local government election; the federal government has said that INEC should use card readers all over the country so council elections without card readers is fraud.
“We will not accept such an election because the National Assembly has passed a law to that effect and that law is for the whole country, not for a section.
“Those who were not able to collect their own cards should do so, so that they will not be disenfranchised,” he said. (NAN)
