Berlin – International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) on Thursday said Russian athletes would discover in June whether they would be allowed to compete at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
The IAAF council said it would convene on June 17 in Vienna when Russia’s fate would be decided.
“Russia’s athletics federation remains banned from international competition for alleged involvement in doping.
“They are in danger of being excluded from the 2016 Olympics which begin in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Aug. 5,’’ IAAF said.
Among measures to restore trust, Russia on Wednesday agreed to grant two independent international experts full access to the Russian anti-doping agency Rusada in Moscow from the end of this month. (dpa/NAN)
