IAAF inaugurates new headquarters in Monaco

ABUJA – The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) on Monday in Monaco officially inaugurated its new headquarters, with Prince Albert II and IAAF President Lamine Diack jointly performing the ceremony.

The unveiling of the new operational headquarters, situated at 6-8, Quai Antoine 1er on Monaco’s main port of Herculis, was attended by Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the IAAF first moved to Monaco in 1994.

But the IAAF has been able to gather the IAAF General Secretariat and seven other IAAF Departments under the same roof.

These departments are Broadcasting, Communications, Competitions, and Member , Finance and Administration, Medical and Anti-Doping, and Technology and Information.

In addition, the IAAF has ensured that both the building necessary to complete the new offices, as well as the future maintenance, will conform to strict guidelines.

These guidelines are mainly about sustainable of energy, as a commitment to the IAAF’s social programme “Athletics for a Better World’’.(NAN)
