A High Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, has granted bail to three individuals, including Naomi Silekunola, the former queen of the Ooni of Ife, in connection with a tragic food queue stampede that claimed the lives of 35 minors in December.
The presiding judge, Justice Kamorudeen Olawoyin, approved bail for Silekunola, Ibadan-based broadcaster Oriyomi Hamzat, and school principal Abdullahi Fasasi.
The three defendants are facing serious charges, including conspiracy, causing death by negligence, and failing to provide adequate security and medical facilities during the event. Further proceedings in the case are expected as investigations continue.
