IBARAPA – Some Transition Committee members in the Ibarapa Central Local Government Area of Oyo State have called for the removal of their chairman, accusing him of running “a one man administration’’.
They spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in separate telephone interviews on Thursday.
The committee members said that the crisis on Tuesday in the council was between the chairman, the members and the Nigeria Union Local Government Employee (NULGE).
The members said that the Chairman, Mr Bola Olawore, had not convened the Finance and General Purpose Committee (F&GPC) meeting, meant to approve contracts and projects.
Crisis erupted when the committee members were denied information on the date of the meeting by Samson Ijaola, Head of Local Government Administration, who directed them to the chairman.

Ijaola said that he was locked up for not divulging information they demanded from him, adding: “I told them that they should approach the chairman for the information.’’
He said that NULGE members protested the detention of their head and locked up the committee members too.
The Council’s Liaison Officer, Mr Suraj Adegbite, told newsmen that the members accused the union of denying them access to information.
Adegbite, however, said that all issues had been resolved on the intervention of some political leaders who brokered peace.
The caretaker committee chairman could not be reached for comment. (NAN)
