Abuja- Mrs Theresa Ibas, President, Naval Officers’ Wives Association (NOWA), has promised to move the association to greater heights.
Ibas made the promise while taking over the leadership of the association from Lami Jibrin, wife of the former Chief of Naval Staff, in Abuja on Friday.
According to her, Jibrin set a good standard that must be sustained, adding that she will do her best to take the association beyond its present lofty height.
“The objectives of NOWA are all geared towards the uplift of the families of personnel of the Nigerian Navy and the society at large.
“My predecessor did a lot in that regard. I promise to sustain it through more projects and activities.
“With the support of all my members
and other stakeholders, we shall move NOWA higher although there is paucity of funds to actualise all the aspirations of the association at once’’, she said.
Earlier, Jibrin expressed confidence in ability of her successor to steer the affairs of NOWA.
“Ibas has always been an active member of NOWA leadership and I am confident of her ability to take the association to greater heights.

“Welfare of members and the society at large is the priority of NOWA, and I am sure the association would continue to do its best in that direction.
“I therefore urge all members to rally round her in achieving set objectives as the new President of NOWA”, she said.
The maiden edition of NOWA magazine “The Sailor’s WIFE”, showcasing projects of the association and news of general interest, was launched at the occasion.
The event was witnessed by wives of senior naval officers and their counterparts in sister services. (NAN)
