LAGOS – The Ansar Un-Deen Grammar School, Surulere, on Monday vowed to defend their title in the male cricket event at the ongoing Lagos State Sports Festival, tagged “Ibile Games”.
The school’s head coach, Salako Azeez, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that his team was gearing up for whatever challenge.
Azeez said that with their recent victory at the Howzat Junior National Super League in Umuahia, Abia, he believed the team would want to continue their winning streak.
“We have being working hard as a team and do not intend to relent on our efforts, especially with our recent victory at the Howzat Junior National Super League.
“Our desire is to retain our title in the male event,” he said.
The coach told NAN that he has been able to inculcate in the team discipline and team bonding that had been their rallying point for success.
“I have made the boys know that they need to rally around themselves at all times whether they are winning or losing.
“It has been able to bring out the best in them, thus their success in competitions,” he said.
NAN reports that the Ibile Games which started on April 30 will end on May 10, while the cricket event commenced from May 5 to May 7. (NAN)
