LAGOS – Lagos Island West on Friday emerged the overall champions of the Wushu Kungfu event in the ongoing Lagos State Sports festival, tagged “Ibile Games”.
They secured a total of 13 gold medal,11 silver and 17 bronze medals, to claim the top position on the medals table.
Surulere Local Government won eight gold, eight silver and 12 bronze medals to place second, while Coker Aguda LCDA won five gold, five silver and five bronze to settle for the 3rd place.
Ganiat Balogun one of the gold medalists from Lagos Island West told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that her triumph was because of hard work.
“I can say that my winning medal is attributable to my hard work and consistency in training, including listening to the instructions of my coach. This really helped me,” Balogun said.
In men’s event in QIAGSHU, Linus Samuel from ApapaIganmu LCDA, claimed the gold medal after defeating Akwu Ojonugwa from Surulere LG. Ojonugwa to settled for the silver.
Arriba Akpan of Lagos Island West and Okechukwu Thomas from Ifelodun LG placed a joint 3rd to win the bronze medals.
In the NANQUAN event, Femi Ajayi of Onigbongbo LCDA, claimed the gold medal after defeating Tijani Kashim of Lagos Island West LCDA to the second place for the silver.
Afeez Adeyinka of Coker Aguda LCDA and Atta Emmanuel from Surulere LG both of who placed the joint 3rd settled for the bronze.
In the CHANGQUAN event, Aderinto Adedeji of Lagos West, won a gold medal after defeating Ifeanyi Alinonu of Ojodu LCDA.
Taiwo Alabi of Surulere LG and Gilbert Stephen of Ifelodun LG, emerged joint 3rd to settle for the bronze.
