LAGOS – Officiating in the Taekwondo event at the ongoing Lagos State Sports Festival dubbed Ibile Games will be free and fair, Ferguson Oluigbo, the Head Referee, has said.
Oluigbo told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Lagos that the referees selected for the Games were certified ones and conversant with latest officiating rules.
“ There will be no room for sentiment in awarding points. Athletes are strictly going to be scored accordingly. So, we expect the athletes to display good fights.
“We also want the coaches and athletes to exhibit a high level of discipline as their conduct also speaks volume because we do not want anything that will disrupt this event. “The joy of it is that the officials are well informed with latest rules in officiating which they will bring to bear on the competitions,’’ he said.
Oluigbo said that events in the different categories would begin in earnest on Friday.
“Activities could not hold today because we want to ensure that fighters are adequately
grouped according to their right categories, and it was successful.”(NAN)
