Abuja (Sundiata Post) – The Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria (ICAN), Plateau State branch on Thursday sworn-in the 24th Chairman of its chapter, during an investiture ceremony and inauguration of the 2023/2024 Executive Committee.
The Chairman, Mr. Monday Nto Bereh, after taking oath of Office said the welfare of members will be his top priority assuring that he will lead with equity, fair play and justice.
“We shall give the whole of ourselves to this Calling, and strive to achieve our mandate within the confines of our Bye-Laws”, he said.
Bereh charged members to be responsible in their various places of work and not to be fund wanting in discharging their duties.
According to him: “let me charge you to continue to provide unfettered quality services to your clients and/or employers. This is the brand we are known for. It is the mark of our distinction. Please avoid, like a plague, any acts that will be capable of demeaning the integrity and image of our dear District, the Institute and the Profession. We must all strive towards upholding the ICAN Moto of Integrity and Accuracy in all our dealings with the public, at all times, as we strive to add value to the economy, having been entrusted with the responsibility of custodianship”, he said.
He continued: ‘Today marks a significant milestone in the accountancy profession as its foremost institute on the African continent, ICAN bestows on me the mantle of leadership as its 24th Chairman.
“I am greatly honoured by your esteemed presence at this unique and seamless transition ceremony specially organised to formally present to me the insignia of office.
“It is therefore with humility, great sense of responsibility and a determination to selflessly serve, that I graciously accept my election as the 24th Chairman and flag bearer of the accountancy profession in Plateau State as pioneered and represented by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria” he said.
He described his new position and office as call to service.
“Let me state that this investiture is a clarion call to service and so, the enormity of its responsibility is not lost on me,” Bereh stated.
