KADUNA – Acting Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba on Wednesday in Kaduna charged police personnel to change their attitude to earn the respect of Nigerians and be successful in their duties.
Abba, who was in Kaduna on familiarisation visit said discipline, honesty, respect for humanity and hard work were key to the success of any police work.
According to him, the new police leadership will have no tolerance for shoddy policing, saying disciplined policemen will be rewarded.
The IGP directed all policemen in the country to work in accordance with police service regulation in order to succeed in the discharge of their statutory duties.
On the 2015 general election, Abba assured all Nigerians that the police would guarantee their safety.
He said that the force had developed a work plan to ensure that all stakeholders in the electoral process including all Nigerians were fully protected before, during and after the election.
The IG had paid a courtesy visit on Gov. Mukhtar Yero before addressing the police personnel at the state command headquarters.
He told the policemen that their salaries would soon be improved, while the Federal Government had made adequate provision for other welfare packages and general equipping of the force. (NAN)
