The APC Candidate who was accompanied by friends and supporters of his party to the funeral called on Ikwerre people to rise and defend their good name and those excellent qualities they are well known for.
“My dear people of Ubima, I must encourage you to come together and protect your rich heritage. You must not allow any individual or group to project Ikwerre as greedy, inconsiderate, selfish and thoughtless. Your city is home to both Nigerians and foreigners and over the years, you have consistently conducted yourselves as good hosts.
“As you are aware, I have many friends in Ikwerre land and I know that you value justice and equity. You must therefore continue to uphold these desirable qualities because as human beings, we shall be judged tomorrow by what we do or say today”.
Peterside who described himself as a son of Ubima by virtue of his numerous friends and associates promised to remember Ubima when he is elected governor of Rivers State in 2015. He also promised to provide security, build more roads and other infrastructure and ensure that every good thing that the present government brought to Ubima is maintained and improved upon.

But the APC Candidate also gave the community a task. “You have a role to play. I am a product of Ubima and nobody can market your product better than you. So you must cease the moment and sell your product. Go from house to house and preach loudly the good news and vision of APC and Dakuku Peterside”.

He called on Rivers people to discountenance any impression that seems to suggest that the Ikwerre are unreasonable and self-centred, adding that there are good men everywhere and that the world will remain like that for ever.
Peterside who was joined in holy matrimony many years ago by Reverend Anyanwu prayed for the soul of Mrs. Bernadeth Anyanwu whose funeral Mass held at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Ubima.
