OMU-ARAN (Kwara) – The Chief Imam of Omu-Aran Central Mosque, Alhaji Sodiq Alalobo, has extolled the virtues of late Alhaji Abdulkareem Adewunmi, the former chairman of Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara who died on Sept. 24.
In his sermon at the fidau prayer, the Imam described the deceased as “an honest and dedicated leader’’ who impacted positively on the wellbeing of the people.
He urged the gathering to be prepared to pay the supreme sacrifice through death. [eap_ad_1] “Death is inevitable. The only antidote to gaining eternal rest in the hereafter is to be righteous and Godly since whatever that has a beginning must surely have an end.
“I want to urge every one of us whether rich or poor, high or low, to know that death is a price we all must pay one day.
“It is only our good deeds in this world that will pave the way for us to gain the desired eternal rest upon our demise,’’ Alalobo said.
Alhaji Luqman Owolewa, the incumbent chairman of the local government, described the late Adewumi as “a refined and forthright politician’’ who contributed to the development of the council and the state.
Adewumi is survived by his wife and children. (NAN)[eap_ad_4]
