Imo Assembly constitutes committee to screen nominees for political appointments

OWERRI – The Imo State House of Assembly on Thursday formed a three-man committee for the screening of nominees for political appointment by the state government.

The committee comprises members representing Ideato South Constituency, Mr Ikechukwu Amuka (APC); Chairman, Dr Obioma Ekennia (PDP) and Mr Celestine Ngaobiwu (PDP).

Some former appointees were relieved of their duties by the Gov. Rochas Okorocha, to enable them to pursue their various political ambitions.

The nominees are for the positions in the transitional committees, commissioners and political aides to the governor.

The nominees for transitional committee are Mr Lazarus Anyanwu, Mr Kelvin Ike, Mr Gideon Mefor, Mr Chuks Okonya, and Mr Chika Ezeji.

Others are Mr Joseph Agoh, Mr Okenwa Nnachi and Mr Lawrence Madu .

Those nominated as commissioners are Mma Nzeribe-Michael, Mr Ikechukwu Njoku, Patience Mbakwe, Victor Amaechi, Chidi Ibe and Mr Clinton Obiyo.

Also submitted for screening were the names of six political aides to the governor.

The Deputy Speaker, Mr Donatus Ozoemena, who presided over plenary, charged the screening committee to report back to the house with its findings at the next session of the house (NAN)
