OWERRI – Senator Hope Uzodimma, Imo State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in March 9 election, together with his party, has filed a suit at the Imo State Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Owerri seeking the tribunal’s declaration that he is the winner of the election.In a petition dated March 30, 2019, Uzodinma named as respondents Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who was declared governor-elect; the PDP and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).No date has been fixed for hearing of the petition.Recall that on March 11, Ihedioha was declared winner of the March 9 governorship election in the state.The former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives polled a total of 273,404 votes while Uche Nwosu, candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) and son-in-law of the incumbent Governor Rochas Okorocha came second with 190,364 votes.
According to the state Returning Officer, Professor Francis Otunta, Vice-Chancellor, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State, in the declaration made at 11pm on Monday, March 11, the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Ifeanyi Ararume, placed third in the election, scoring 114,676, with APC candidate, Hope Uzodinma finishing in the fourth position with 96,458 votes.
