Omupo (Kwara) – Ven. Samuel Adeyemo, Arch Deacon/Vicar of St. Michael Anglican Church. Omupo, Kwara has urged Christians to strive to impact positively on fellow humans while alive.
He gave the advice on Friday in Omupo in his sermon at the farewell service for the late Madam Comfort Ajide.
Madam Comfort, who died at 92 on October 8, 2016 in Omupo, was the mother of Rev. Felix Ajide, an Assistant Editor-In-Chief,the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) and was buried immediately her death in Omupo.
He said that while death was inevitable, the only way to gain the desired eternal salvation was to imbibe good deed on the people,
Adeyemo, who quoted from second Chronicles, Chapter 24, verse 15 to 16, also called on the gathering at the occasion to always be their brother’s keeper.
“Either we like it or not, we are going to be accountable for every of our action, good or bad in this life.
“So, it is better for us to tow the path of righteousness in order to attract God’s favour and salvation,” he said.
Adeyemo prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased.
Ajide, who is the Head, Metro Desk, NAN, Abuja in a tribute, described her late mother as a loving and righteous mother who was well prepared for the journey beyond.
“I led you to Christ from time to time and urged you to prepare for the eternity.
“The time came, you knew it, you saw it, you said when it was time, you would not trouble anybody,” he said.
Pastor Oluwakemi, described her late mother in-law as a caring and wonderful woman.
A grand reception for the guests was held at the deceased residence beside St. Michael Primary School, Omupo.
The farewell service and reception were attended by friends and associates of Ajide, including some members of staff and management of NAN. (NAN)
