ABUJA – Dr Ade Abolurin, the Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has assured of adequate security for the Independence Day celebration.
Abolurin said the corps has concluded all arrangement to ensure a hitch-free celebration across the country.
He gave this assurance on Tuesday in Abuja while addressing the management team of the corps on the need for adequate security during and after the independence.
He said that the NSCDC had deployed personnel and equipment to all strategic locations and vulnerable points across the country. [eap_ad_1] “The occasion is an opportunity for us as a people to identify with one another and celebrate our unity in diversity; which is our source of strength within regional and international political framework,” he said.
He urged Nigerians to go about their legitimate business without fear of attack or molestations by any individual or group of persons under any guise as the corps was out to provide law and order.
He warned criminals and vandals who usually take advantage of festive seasons to perpetrate crime to desist or be ready to face the full wrath of the law.
According to him, the Federal Government has demonstrated to citizens that the security of lives and property of all Nigerians and foreigners alike is very paramount.
He said the Federal Government would continue to reposition, restructure and re-energise the security architecture of the country until peace and stability was achieved.
The NSCDC boss said that the corps will ensure water tight security through reinforcement from its special force, counter terrorism, anti-vandal squad, surveillance and intelligence unit.
He said that personnel from the Critical Infrastructure Protection Unit, Sniffer Dogs, Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear Weapons Unit would also be deployed to provide security. (NAN)
