Sokoto –  Indian Government has promised to play an active role in ensuring the success of the Sokoto State Government’s Renal and Cardiac Hospital project.

Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria, B.N Reddy, made this promise when he visited Gov. Aminu Tambuwal in Abuja.

A statement issued by the governor’s spokesman, Malam Imam Imam, in Sokoto on Wednesday, quoted the envoy as saying that the relationship between his country and Nigeria has been cordial.

“We seek to expand our cooperation with Nigeria in the medical and other sectors and this is an opportunity for us to take active part,” Reddy said.

Reddy further said that both countries are working to enhance the relationship for the mutual benefit of all.

In his remarks, Tambuwal said that the Cardiac and Renal Centre will be the best in the country, adding that it will serve patients from Nigeria and other West African countries.

“It will be a centre of excellence and having it on ground in Sokoto will enhance medical tourism.

” It will also help Nigeria to conserve the much needed foreign currencies, which many of our countrymen and women expend to seek treatments abroad,” Tambuwal said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the two leaders also pledged to boost trade and commerce, mining, agriculture and educational ties, among others, between India and Sokoto State.
