LAGOS – Some Indian women whose children are participating at the ongoing 46th Asoju Oba Table Tennis Championship, have applauded the organisers of the competition.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the competition is organised by the Lagos State Table Tennis Association and sponsored by Molade Okoya-Thomas.
It served off on the Nov. 24 and will end on Nov. 28 at the Molade Okoya-Thomas Sports Hall at the Teslim Balogun Stadium.
Some of the parents told NAN that the tournament provided a healthy platform for exposure.
Anita Menon, a parent of one of the players from the Indian Language College, said that the organisers had performed creditably.
“It is good to watch my child play in this competition and this is wonderful,’’ she said.
Sangeeta Dadlani, another Indian national, told NAN that the competition improved the skill of her child in table tennis.
“I was here during last year’s edition and I really enjoyed the competition.
“And this year is more competitive compared to the last edition and the organisers are commended for the improvement,’’ Dadlani said.
Smitha Madathil, whose child is a participant, described the competition as a platform for budding talents to hone their skills.
“I have been coming with my child for the competition since 2013.
“The young players are really benefitting from the championship by gaining more exposure.
“My daughter won gold and silver in the girls’ doubles and mix-doubles, during the last year competition,” she said.
Madathil, however, urged officials of the competition to be time conscious, saying that there was need to work on proper timing. (NAN)
