Jakarta – Police in Indonesia said on Wednesday they had arrested six people for alleged involvement in a protected animal smuggling ring.
Jakarta police spokesman, Muhammad Iqbal, said that police seized a honey bear, four birds of paradise and a clouded leopard cub during the operation over the past few days.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
‘’The syndicate had smuggled two orangutans to Dubai and a honey bear to Kuwait,’’ Iqbal said.
He also said that the syndicate had an extensive network, involving foreigners.
Among those arrested, according to him are a Libyan national and a staff member at Jakarta airport’s animal quarantine. (dpa/NAN)
