DAMATURU – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Tuesday in Damaturu declared Sen. Bukar Ibrahim of All Progressives Congress (APC) as winner of Yobe East senatorial district.

Declaring the result, the INEC Returning Officer for the senatorial election, Prof. Yakubu Muktar, said that Bukar polled 87,890 votes to beat his PDP opponent who scored 27,846.
“I wish to seize this opportunity to declare Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim of APC as the winner of Yobe East Senatorial district election having scored the highest vote in Saturday’s national assembly elections,’’ Muktar said.

According to him, 127,515 voters were accredited out of which 121,948 voted, while 6,212 votes were rejected.
Muktar described the election as the most peaceful, free, fair and transparent ever conducted in the country. (NAN)
