DAMATURU – The Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC in Yobe, Mr Habu Zarma, said it had concluded arrangements to conduct the governorship and State Assembly elections in the State.
Zarma announced this at news conference in Damaturu on Friday.
“We are ready for the conduct of the governorship and State Assembly elections slated for Saturday’’, he said.
According to Zarma, the commission has received all the necessary materials needed for the elections, especially the sensitive ones, and had been distributed to the 17 local government areas of the state.
He said as part of efforts to ensure timely arrival of materials at the polling units, INEC had decided to move election materials close to Registration Area Centre.

“This is an innovation by INEC to curtail late arrival of officials and materials during elections.’’
The REC said Police in the state had made adequate security arrangements to ensure safety of INEC officials and election materials.
Zarma reiterated the determination of INEC to conduct free, fair and transparent elections that would satisfy the yearnings and aspirations of Nigerians.
He urged the electorate and party agents to conduct themselves in civilized manner and abide by the law during the elections. (NAN)
