Kaduna – The Kaduna Dry Port, on Wednesday urged the Kaduna State Government to set up agricultural marketing board to exploit the huge agricultural potentials in the state.
Mr Salami Rasaq, Manager of Inland Container Nigeria Ltd, the company running the dry port, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kaduna.
He said the state’s agricultural potentials have remained untapped in spite of the huge revenue accruable from it.
Rasaq particularly said that the state, being the third producer of high quality ginger in the world was yet to tap from the produce huge export potentials.

According to him, the annual World ginger trading is estimated to be $190 million, with major imports coming from the United Kingdom, United States and Saudi Arabia.
He said that the board would be able to effectively and efficiently harness all the potentials in the sector.
“The boards will ensure stable price for agricultural produce, thereby ensuring ready markets for farmers which will in turn encourage them to invest hugely in the sector.”
The manager said that the inland port was ready to partner with the government to ensure export of produce from the state.
“If that is achieved, through our international partners, we would give all the expertise on how to properly prepare and package the produce to make them export worthy.
“We would also create the needed linkages with international partners to ensure that all export-worthy agricultural produce in the state generate the desired revenue,”Rasaq said. (NAN)
