Kaduna – The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kaduna State Command, says any commercial motorist who failed to install speed limiter by Feb.1 will face sanction.
Mr Francis Udoma, FRSC Sector Commander in Kaduna, spoke in a statement on Tuesday in Kaduna.
Udoma said, “The general public is hereby informed that full enforcement of speed limiting device will commence on Feb. 1 across the country.
“FRSC officers will be stationed on major roads across the state to check vehicles without the device and impose fine on any defaulter.
“Similarly, mobile courts will be stationed in strategic places to prosecute the violators.”
He said that this was aimed at reducing road crashes associated with speeding, which invariably led to avoidable injuries and loss of lives.
According to him, the gains of speed limiter include reduction of fatality rate and injuries when accidents occur, and it also saves our environment from pollution.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that FRSC had in the last six months embarked on enlightenment of motorists on the use of the device prior to its full enforcement.
