Insubordination: Nasarawa Assembly recalls suspended clerk

Lafia – The Nasarawa State House of Assembly on Wednesday recalled the suspended Clerk of the House, Mr.Ego MaiKeffi and directed him to resume duty immediately.

The Speaker of the house, Alhaji.Ibrahim Balarabe, gave theduring the house plenary in Lafia, after announcing the receipt of a letter of apology from MaiKeffi.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]

Mr.Abubakar Kana (APC-Kokona West), the deputy leader of the house, moved a motion for the acceptance of the apology letter in the floor of the house.

Kana said that the clerk should be recalled to his duty after he had tendered an apology letter as directed by the house.

He said that the recall was in the interest of fairness, peace and national development.

“When we recall, the house suspended the clerk for insubordination to the Speaker.Now that he has tendered an apology letter to the House, we should recall him to continue his duties in the interest of peace,” he said

Mr. Mohammed Okpede (PDP-Doma South), seconded the motion for the recall of the suspended clerk.

The House unanimously agreed to lift the suspension in the interest of peace, and to enable the suspended clerk contribute his quota to national development.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the state legislature suspended the clerk on Aug.1, for allegedly withdrawing the sum of N1m from the coffers of the House, without the consent of the speaker.(NAN)
