Lagos – Ahaji Ahmed Debo, Chairman, Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) western zone, has decried the nefarious activities of pipeline vandals in the zone.
Debo told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Lagos that incessant pipeline vandalism posed danger to the country’s economic well being.
He urged security agents both at the federal and in the states to live up to their duties by ensuring that the activities of these vandals are brought to an end.
He said that they should also ensure that the culprits are adequately dealt with according to the law.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
“We at the western zone are ready to lend helping hand to security agents to bring pipeline vandalism to a halt.
“We have also contributed financially and morally to effective surveillance of the pipelines that pass through the zone, especially, the stem 2B axis.
“We have adopted a system that does not encourage vandalism. If you ask security agents patrolling around our waterways, they can attest to this,’’ Debo said.
The chairman stressed the need for security agents saddled with the responsibility of protecting the pipelines to have close rapport with traditional rulers in the communities where the pipelines pass through. (NAN)
