The Islamic state of Iraq and Syria known as the ISIS have threatened to attack football stars who are currently participating at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
In a disturbing photo posted by the ISIS, Barcelona star Lionel Messi who is the captain of the Argentina national team is seen as their main target of the attack.
Lionel Messi is seen kneeling before a masked jihadist near the center circle of a packed stadium in Russia with the purpose of harming him.
There is also a caption in the video urging fanatics to be ‘ready and steady for the season of hunting is soon’
The mocked-up image are the latest in a near constant stream of ISIS threats against the World Cup in recent weeks.
Meanwhile, this latest threat from the ISIS is coming six days after the start of the 2018 World Cup, and the Russian government are expected to tighten up security at match centers as to avoid any unforeseen circumstances.
ISIS is a Salafi jihadist terrorist organisation and former unrecognized proto-state that follows a fundamentalist, Salafi/Wahhabi doctrine of Sunni Islam.
