Lagos – Alhaji Musbau Oyefeso, Chairman, The Aiyepe Ijebu Muslim Community in Ogun, has urged Muslims to optimise all the opportunities in Ramadan season by increasing charity.
Oyefeso gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Thursday.
“Ramadan is a last mercy to Muslims. We should try as much as possible to optimise the opportunity in Ramadan.
“All the good things, all the acts of worship we are supposed to do in Ramadan, we should maximise it because Ramadan comes but once in a year and we should try as much as possible to take free advantage of it.
“Ask for Allah`s forgiveness, continue with Dhikr (Remembrance of Allah); do your Tahajjud (night prayers) and try as much to increase your charity.’’
The Islamic leader pleaded with wealthy Muslims to support the needy during Ramadan to enable them to perform the fasting together according to the tenets of Islam.
“Well I think it is also the duty of a Muslim to take care of our brothers.
“Let us try as much as possible to care for our brothers; to look for our neighbours; our friends, our associates, our relations, who are poor.
“Deliberately look for them during this month of Ramadan so that we can reduce the hunger, so that more people can also fast.
“During Ramadan you are supposed to up your game as people will say. You are supposed to increase your Dawah (preaching of Islam); you are supposed to increase your activities.
“So we should look for them deliberately during Ramadan, beyond, after Ramadan. “
Oyefeso said that Ramadan encouraged Muslims to show love and kindness to one another.
He reminded Muslims of the blessings of Allah in the holy month. (NAN)
