LAGOS – Dr Funmilayo Bankole, Medical Director, Isolo General Hospital, on Monday urged the Lagos State Government to increase the staff strength of the hospital to enhance service delivery[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″].[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”8″]
Bankole told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that in the last two years, the staff strength had dropped from 550 to 409.
She said that the members of staff were under pressure as the number of patients who visited the [pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″][pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]hospital was on the increase.
“The hospital has witnessed significant development which cut across clinical services, equipment and infrastructure under the administration of Gov. Babatunde Fashola.
“There has been quality healthcare delivery through effective and efficient diagnoses and treatment and this has led to increased patronage.
“An average of 750 patients visit the hospital on daily basis and we need more personnel to attend to the needs of our patients,’’ she said.
Bankole also said that there was the need to procure modern hospital equipment to meet international standard and prevent medical tourism.
“There have been lots of technological advancement in the medical world; we, however, appeal to the State Government to provide our hospital with modern equipment.
“This will upgrade our status to function optimally and attend to the health needs of our patients.
“We will also be able to provide services which otherwise our patients travel abroad to access,’’ she said. (NAN)
