Abuja (Sundiata Post) – United Nations (UN) Secretary General, Antonio Guterres has issued a warning to the Palestinians and Isreali governments cut in the web of war, saying that despite the legitimacy of their grievances, civilian infrastructure must never be a target.
Guterres who stated this via his veried X handle (formerly known as twitter), was careful not to be quoted or seen to have taken side with any of the parties said as follows:
“I recognize the legitimate grievances of the Palestinian people. But nothing can justify acts of terror and the killing, maiming and abduction of civilians.
Also, the UN Scribe said: “While I recognize Israel’s legitimate security concerns, I also remind Israel that military operations must be conducted in strict accordance with int’l humanitarian law.
He therefore, ” reiterated call to immediately cease these attacks and release all hostages, adding that civilians must be respected and protected at all times.
