AKURE – Mr Akin Orebiyi, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Ondo State, on Friday urged the public to be orderly during the distribution of Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) and the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in the state.
The advice is contained in a statement by the REC and made available to newsmen in Akure.
He said the distribution of the PVCs would hold on Aug. 15 to 17 while the CVR would begin from Aug. 20 to 25 at the designated registration centres in the state.
Orebiyi urged eligible voters to cooperate with the INEC officials, NYSC members and security officials in the state to ensure the success of exercises.
“ I will appeal to our stakeholders to exercise patience and conduct themselves in a peaceful manner and cooperate during the distribution of parmanent voters’ cards and continuos voter registration,” he said [eap_ad_1] The commissioner ,however, said that the distribution of PVCs would not hold in three wards in Owo Local Government Area and one in Ondo East Local Government Area.
According to him, wherever the distribution of the PVCs is postponed, the CVR will also not hold and new dates will be announced soon for the exercises.
“In view of the incident of flooding in some parts of Ese-Odo Local Government Area, consultations are still ongoing as to when the two exercises will take off in this local government,” he said.
The commissioner said that INEC had decided to conduct fresh registration in the affected polling units during the CVR fixed for Aug. 20 to Aug. 25.
“This will enable all eligible voters to have their data captured in the voters’ register, as such people need not to go there for the collection of permanent voters’ cards,” he said.(NAN)
