LAGOS – Abel Ubiebi, a certified International Tennis Registry (ITR) Coach has pleaded with corporate bodies to sponsor its annual ACE Tennis programme.
According to Ubiebi, he uses the platform to identify budding talents in the sport.
Ubiebi, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Lagos, urged philanthropists to help to bankroll the project as it would help to engage more coaches to enhance the growth of coaching in the sport.

“We need more sponsors to come and partner with us to provide avenues to showcase the many talents that abound in the country,’’ he said.
The ITR coach stressed the need for potential partners to support and ensure continuity in the development of the sport, where training of coaches were also featured.
“We decided at our board meeting recently that we want partners that can identify and support our programme.
“We have sent out letters to some companies, we are waiting for their responses and hoping they will step in to assist us,’’ he said.
Ubiebi, then, commended the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF) for their efforts at supporting the initiative of grooming coaches to guarantee the development of the sport at the grassroots.
“The NTF has been supportive, which indicates consistency and that is all we need for the development,’’ he said.
NAN reports that the ACE Tennis Services competition has been scheduled to hold from June 29 to July 3 at the National Stadium Tennis Courts. (NAN)
