Yenagoa- The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) has commended the Armed Forces and the joint multinational forces for recent successes recorded in the on-going war against insurgency in the North-East.
The IYC made the commendation in a statement issued by its spokesman, Mr Eric Omare on Sunday in Yenagoa.
The council sympathised with the families of military men who had lost their lives in the national assignment.
It urged the military forces to sustain the tempo and flush out the insurgents

“The IYC calls on the Federal Government and governments of neighbouring Chad, Cameroun and Benin Republic not to relent in the on-going war to flush out all the Boko Haram insurgents.
“There must be no room for any sort of negotiation.
“Any idea of negotiation or peace move from the Boko Haram insurgents or their sympathisers must be resisted.
“It is only a bait to buy time to regroup to carry out more deadly attacks on innocent Nigerians.
“We call on the traditional, political and religion leaders in the North, including youths to support the Federal Government and provide the lead in the fight against Boko Haram insurgency,’’ it said.
It urged them to borrow a leaf from the Niger Delta experience, where the leaders of the region agreed and provided the leadership that ended armed resistance in the area.
The council stated that the war against insurgents could not be completely won without the total support of the people and communities directly affected. (NAN)
