Sokoto – The Jama’atul Izalatul Bid’a Wa Iqamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS) Islamic group in Sokoto State says it will
sponsor 50 orphans annually in order to acquire western education.
Amb. Shehu Wurno, the Chairman of the group’s Orphans Welfare Committee disclosed this in an interview with the
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sokoto on Wednesday.
Wurno said this was as a result of his assessment of the performance of some of the orphans at the Yakubu Mu’azu Model Primary School, Sokoto.
He said that the Committee had provided clothing materials and food to about 5,000 orphans in 2015.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
He added that the programmes would not have been possible without the support of well-meaning individuals in the state.
He expressed satisfaction with the performance of the pupils, assuring that they would be supported up to tertiary education level.
The former envoy also said that the organisation would provide the orphans with all they required to concentrate on their education.
Wurno, who did not give the population of the orphans, described their performance as excellent and that the school had assigned a teacher to look after them. (NAN)
