Dutse, – The Jigawa Government says it has set up a committee to recover loans disbursed for the purchase of 95 tractors.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Malam Muhammad Danzomo, made this known to newsmen on Wednesday in Dutse.
Danzomo said that the loans were disbursed to farmers associations in each of the 27 local government areas of the state in 2011 by the immediate past administration in the state.
He further said that the 95 tractors were given to the farmers through the state Ministry of Local Government.
According to him, the loans were supposed to have been repaid after two years.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
“The recovery period of the loan is over. The loans were given in 2011 and were supposed to be settled in two years; and it is already four years now.”
Danzomo said the government had directed both ministries recover the money.
“So, we were directed to constitute a task force which we have done.
“The task force comprises the two ministries concerned and representatives of the Directorate of State Security (DSS) and the police,” Danzomo said. (NAN)
