Dutse – Jigawa Government has constituted a 12-member Consumer Protection Committee that will monitor the prices of foodstuffs and goods across the state.
This is contained in a statement from the Office of the Secretary to the state Government (SSG) on Thursday in Dutse.
It added that the committee was to identify measures to be taken to eliminate artificial scarcity.
According to the statement, it was also part of the responsibilities of the committee to negotiate and agree with transporters on transport fares.
The statement added that the committee was to entertain consumer’s complaints, advise them on remedies available for protection and the enforcement of their rights.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
It stated that the committee was also to ensure compliance with approved standards of commodities, including weigh and measures.
The statement said the committee has Alhaji Farouk Abdullahi as Chairman and Nasiru Muhammad as Secretary.
Other members of the Committee include Muhammad Magaji, Alhaji Yusuf Adaji, Malam Usman Maisaka, Danlami Ya’u Sara, Alhaji Danladi Mai-Mai, Yakubu Gwari among others. (NAN)
