Dutse -Gov. Muhammad Badaru of Jigawa on Thursday said his administration had concluded plan to build 1,330 low cost houses across the State.
Badaru announced this when the Managing Director of Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, Alhaji Gima Kumo visited him in Dutse.
He explained that under the programme, each local government would have 40 houses while the five emirate headquarters would get additional 50 houses each.
The governor said the decision was due to housing deficit and also to assist civil servants to own houses.
According to him, Dutse, the state capital, would get more because of high number of workers residing in the city.
He asked Federal Mortgage Bank to come up with plan of a house that would cost between N700,000 and N1,000,000 each.
Badaru reiterated his readiness to partner with the bank to achieve the targeted number of low cost houses at considerable prices.
Earlier, the managing director said the bank was willing to collaborate with government in providing affordable houses in the state.
