Dutse – The Jigawa Hisbah Commission says it reconciled 3,136 couples who had disagreements thereby saving their marriages in 2019.
Malam Ibrahim Dahiru, the state’s Hisbah Commandant stated this while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Dutse.
Dahiru said the reconciliation was part of 11,520 activities conducted by the commission in 2019.
He said the commission also reconciled 711 parents with their children during the period.
“We also mediated between 668 traders who had disagreements as well as 483 neighbours, we also reconciled 427 farmers who had problems with herdsmen,” he said.
Dahiru said other activities conducted by the commission included preaching, conversion of people to Islam, patrols,repatriation and providing support to the needy.
He said the commission also carried out 252 raids in beer parlours, 235 in suspected illicit drugs users’ hideouts, 197 in gambling joints among others.
Dahiru added that the commission also arrested 20 suspects in some adultery cases and 14 homosexual suspects during the period.
“We also arrested 12 suspected rapists and 14 women suspected to have dumped their new born babies.
“Also arrested were 16 women suspected to have aborted their pregnancies and 225 suspected drug users among others,” he said.
Dahiru said the commission also repatriated 436 beggars, 123 mad people, 330 married women who left home over alleged forced marriage among others.
He said the commission also provided support to 668 orphans, 109 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), 504 sick people, 370 stranded travelers, 77 converts and 282 needy.
Dahiru advised residents of the state to desist from engaging in immoral acts and other vices capable of destroying the society.
“The commission will continue its fight against immoral acts including alcohol and other vices in the society,”
