Dutse – Jigawa State Rehabilitation Board has screened 33, 869 people living with disabilities for injection into the state social security scheme.
Executive Secretary of the board, Ibrahim Rabakaya told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse on Tuesday that those screened were mainly the blind, lepers, cripples among others.
According to him, the exercise is to update the record of the board which currently offers social security allowance of N7000 to 2, 090 physically challenged persons in the state.
Rabakaya said that the government spends over N14.6 million monthly on the beneficiaries of the scheme drawn from the 27 local government areas of the state.
