Jonathan appoints Tukur Ambassador-at-Large

ABUJA –   has approved the appointment of Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, the immediate past Chairman of the ruling PDP, as Ambassador-at-Large.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the appointment a statement issued on Monday Abuja.

According to the statement, Tukur as an envoy, will be “assigned special duties by ’’ under the new appointment.

The statement chronicled the former PDP chairman’s achievements public and service.

“Tukur served as the and Chief Executive of the Nigerian ’ Authority  from 1975 to 1982 and of the then Gongola State in 1983.

“Between 1994 and 1995, he served as Minister for Industries.

The positions were Vice Chairman, International and Harbours ; Chairman, International Cargo Handling ; and Chairman, Governing Council of Institute of Business Development.

Tukur, until his appointment, Chairman, Board of Directors of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, a he assumed since January after he resigned as PDP chairman.  (NAN)
