ABUJA (SundiataPost) – FCT Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed has described President Goodluck Jonathan as the best qualified person to lead Nigeria at this stage. He spoke on Tuesday during the annual public lecture and award ceremony of the Nigerian Pilot Newspaper and the Nigerian Newsworld Magazine at the Ladi Kwali Hall of Abuja Sheraton Hotel and Towers.
Senator Mohammed, who was the chief host at the event, described Jonathan as a leader with a mission and vision for a better Nigeria where all would have unfettered opportunity.
The FCT Minister stated that those of them who are working with President Jonathan “have come to appreciate what is called the new face of leadership; the new Nigerianness; the new nationalism where people are drafted into various positions not because of sentiment but because we are connected by this umbilical cord called Nigeria and that is why we see him as somebody who is a transformer”.
He said that the Jonathan leadership has succeeded in conquering all the differences and prejudices that we used to have adding that today every young man and woman in Nigeria can aspire to actualize his aspiration to any level.
Senator Bala Mohammed who had received the Pilot awards twice in the past four years hailed this year’s recipients as champions brought on board by Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to carry on the transformation. “Even after this recognition, you should strive to make sure you maximally put whatever you can put to ensure that Nigeria is transformed,” he charged them.
Among the award recipients were the Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan; Minister of Works, Arc. Mike Onolememen; Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Akinwunmi, Adesina; the Director General of Securities and Exchange Commission, SEC, Ms Arunma Oteh; the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Aviation, Hon. Nkiru Onyejeocha and the Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, Mr. Patrick Akpobolokemi.
The guest speaker was former Governor of Edo State and Chairman, Nigerian Law Reform Commission, Prof. Oserheimen Osunbor while Senator Bode Olajumoke was Chairman of the occasion.
