(Sundiata Post) — A former Special Adviser on Youths and Students’ Affairs to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Comrade Jude Imagwe, has taken a swipe at the touted return of an All Progressives Congress chieftain and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to the Peoples Democratic Party.
Atiku until his defection to apc was vice president under PDP government of Olusegun Obasanjo for eight years.
Imagwe, in a statement made available to Sundiata Post questioned Atiku reasons and motive for attempting a return to a party he jettisoned with ignominy.
In the statement entitled, ‘Atiku, Why And What is Your Motive,’ Imagwe said, I read about Atiku ‘s rumoured return to PDP and I am inclined to ask him some pertinent questions”
“The first question I will ask him is Why and the second is what is/are his motive(s).”
He said, “Atiku should be able to explain to Nigerians why he wants to leave APC back to PDP from where he left. Is it for some altruistic or selfish motive. He should also explain why he left PDP to APC and why he has found PDP so attractive now to actualise his presidential ambition. These explanations must be guided and backed by convincing evidence and fact. He must explain why he is not a constant interloper.
“When he answers these questions, he must be able to again tell Nigerians his motives. He should tell us if his motives are not realized, will he again jump ship”.
Imagwe expressed regret that Nigerian politicians have for long taken Nigerians for a ride, adding “We wonder why these politicians continue to recycle themselves to the detriment of youths whose abundant potentials are yet to be tapped. Without looking out for young ones who will contribute meaningfully to the development of the country, we continue to recycle politicians whose motives are less altruistic.”
While challenging young politicians to take a step of faith and venture into the presidential race, Imagwe urged Gombe State Governor, Ibrahim Dankwambo, his Sokoto State counterpart, Aminu Tambuwal and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, to accept the challenge and not let the youths down.
He added, “We have Dankwambo, Tambuwal and Dogara who are relatively young and have made their marks. The youths expect them to rise above their present position and aspire for the highest position in the country.”
