JTF arrests 4 suspected pirates on Bayelsa waterways

YENAGOA – The Joint Task (JTF) in the , Pulo Shield, on announced the arrest of four suspected sea pirates by its operatives in Bayelsa waterways.

The JTF Spokesman, Lt.-Col. Isa Ado, told newsmen in Yenagoa that the four suspected pirates aged between 17 and 22, were apprehended with arms and ammunition.

He said troops of the JTF deployed to Fontua in Brass Local Area, made the arrest on May 11 and May 12.

“Items recovered from the pirates include one AK 47 riffle with registration number QQ1798, 4 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition, one G3 riffle loaded with 7.62 mm special ammunition.

“One G3 riffle loaded 7.62mm NATO and one action gun loaded with cartridges,’’ Ado said.

Ado said that the suspects were for all the attacks and pirates activities along the Mbikiri and Nembe 1 waterways of the state.

He said that the hoodlums took advantage of the difficult terrain in the creeks to unleash attack on victims.
