Yenagoa -The Joint Task Force (JTF) in the Niger Delta said on Tuesday that it arrested a notorious suspected cultist in Imo and two oil thieves.
A statement by the Spokesman of the JTF, Lt.-Col. Isa Ado in Yenagoa said the special squad of the JTF, Operation Pulo Sheild, deployed to Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo raided the cultist hideout and arrested him.
“The hideout of the cultist, who gave his name simply as Ukwa, is in Ezi Orsu Community. We recovered items like sophisticated weapons and live cartridges.
“The suspect and the recovered weapons are presently in custody of the JTF for preliminary investigation and he will be handed over to the prosecuting agency after the investigations.”
The statement said the JTF also seized an oil bunkering truck with registration number DBT 244XA on with stolen Automated Gas Oil (AGO).
It said the occupants of the truck were arrested and detained and that tests conducted on the truck’s cargo confirmed the AGO to be adulterated.
“The truck with its content was moved to an isolated area along Refinery-Onne road in Rivers and destroyed.
“The second arrest is a truck loaded with black oil with registration number ANC 80 XA. The truck was intercepted along Refinery-Onne road.
